At the turn of the 20th century, Italian immigrants from Belsito Calabria, in southern Italy, brought this superb heirloom frying pepper to the Chicago suburb of Melrose Park. The 4-inch fruit turns brilliant red and starts producing very early, with flavor that is rich, flavorful, and very sweet. Great fried or fresh, a true Italian treasure. We have had many requests for this pepper.
