A high quality and high yielding medium-large, round, main season red slicer from Russia. Skin is always blemish free and slightly shiny. Meaty beefsteak type with dense, tasty flesh great for slicing fresh or canning. Fruit size is fairly large, but not giant, averaging around 12-14 oz. This variety is part of a growing line of awesome Russian and Siberian tomatoes. Mashenka is a common woman’s name in Russia and this tomato is a popular commercial variety there. According to a translation of the Russian website MirAgro, Mashenka is resistant to Alterneria, Fusarium, and shows some tolerance to late blight and mosaic virus.
